This is my candidate statement that will appear on the ballot
  • ROSA ACOSTA
  • Age: 38
  • Occupation: Management Analyst

Education and Qualifications:
  • I believe that all students deserve a high quality education, safe schools, and the educational foundation on which to succeed in life.
  • As the mother of five children, four currently attending SSFUSD schools from 1st grade to high school, I know firsthand what's working in our public schools and I have specific ideas on where to make improvements.
  • I've also spent many years volunteering as a former PTA Board Member and classroom volunteer.
  • I'm a candidate for the Board of Trustees so I can put my experience and energy to good use.
  • I'll make the necessary changes our schools need to improve the quality of education, and ensure that students have the resources they need to achieve academic excellence.
  • I'll focus on implementing Common Core standards effectively, increasing graduation rates and college acceptance rates, providing safe campus environments, and challenging our staff, parents and students to reach beyond the status quo.
  • As a Management Analyst in the City Manager's Office, I'll use my experience to improve partnerships with the City, Police Department, and our local employers to expand educational opportunities.

I'm honored that Mayor Matsumoto supports my candidacy.
