History We moved to Mountain House in 2006 from Ft. Hood, TX. We bought our house when it was a vacant lot and watched it go up. Little did we know that this move would be our last and I would be able to retire from the Army 6 years later with a couple of assignments in-between. We love our house and community and that's a good thing because we will be paying off our loan for the rest of our natural lives.

Running for the board in 2014

I decided to run for the board after being prompted by Steve Gutierrez. For anyone not familiar with Steve who lives in Mountain House, you should get out more. Steve is the current President of the Board and I met him at a building/planning open house. He promptly enlisted me for the Public Safety Board. Steve also started up the MH Veterans Group with others and I participate there. He mentioned that his term was up and he was going to move on and gave me his vote of confidence to apply for the vacant position. I explained to him that I'm not sure if I want to do that, I'm not a politician and I know MHCSD Directors work hard and are always on the go in Mountain House. He reminded me that I have the skills and asked me if service to community was important to me. He made his point, I'm willing to step up and be counted. My Issues

My philosophy as anyone who knows me will attest to, is: lead, follow or get out of the way. I'm not a deep thinker. I like to look at the issue and get to the important stuff so that I can find a solution. As a board member I'm more concerned with policy than "how to" fix everything. I try and avoid drama and I don't usually speak unless I have something to say. As an Army Officer I was a successful leader because I demonstrated respect for everyone and wasn't afraid to get my hands dirty when there was work to be done. When in charge I take charge. When I'm not I try to follow and support. When I can't do that you'll find me at the pub.

I want to make sure we get a fair deal on things we pay for so I think resource management, infrastructure and long term plans for Mountain House are my main concern. I am a steward of resources both natural and manmade. I care about our community and I want to see us prosper. The only way to do that is to have a good current operating plan and a sound strategic one.

I pride myself on being a good communicator, especially in writing. One of the duties of the board members is to represent the people who elect us. I have a stake in this community and it's a long term commitment.

It's an exciting time to be in Mountain House. We're looking forward to attending MHHS football games, more activities in the park, 10K races, parades and gatherings. I don't know how I'd like being a board member but everything else I've done in our community has been a positive experience and I believe this one would be too.
