Student Needs

By Barbara Majchrzak

Candidate for Board Member; Chula Vista Elementary School District; Seat 1

This information is provided by the candidate
Materials, assessments and progress reports need to be aligned to Common Core Standards.
  • This is a time of change. The Common Core Standards have been implemented but we still need materials that support these standards. As a board member for the Chula Vista School District, I will do my best to get materials into the hands of students in a timely manner.
  • Student achievement is measured by assessing growth. It is important that the Chula Vista School District continues to develop assessments that measure if students are college and career ready. The School Board must insure that all schools are prepared to support computerized test taking. Soon, all standardized tests will be electronically administered.
  • Finally, a system for reporting student progress to parents needs to be updated. Parents want to understand what their student's strengths are as well as what their student needs to master in Common Core. I will focus on updating Progress Reports at all grade levels. This will result in a strong home school connection.
