"If you don't vote for this Lady on the School Board, OCEANSIDE- -You'll be MISSING THE BOAT.....they don't get any better than this !!!" - Jerry Burton, Friends Since our K-1 Class, Nuview Elementary School, 1951

"Having known you the better part of our lives, and though we mostly disagree politically, I have never once questioned your honesty, sincerity and capacity for hard and dedicated work. I can state without reservation my solid belief that if you are elected you will dedicate yourself to doing the very best job anyone could possibly do and will be true to your guiding principals and ideals. I also know that you have dedicated your life to education and the students who were lucky enough to have passed by your influence; they are all better people today for having done so. Good luck and go get it, Arleen, because the people and students of Oceanside will be far better off with you in this vital leadership role. Denny" - Dennis Davis, Perris High School c/o 1964 Classmate

"Arleen,Arleen,Arleen....because I can see that you're the real deal - you truly care about the FUTURE of our Society, Education, the Planet, etc.- the welfare, the health, and many other things I'm certain you embrace....just look at yourself, you're a LIVING EXAMPLE of what education, a healthy lifestyle, and an active exercise of mind, body and spirit can do for the living soul....your interests are not political but integral (& good luck trying to deal with that end of the spectrum once voted in)..- - -...I don't know, I just feel the Oceanside District would be amiss TO MISS an opportunity to have someone of your caliber grace their hallways....its just as Sergio said, 'the children need the likes of you in their house'. -- - - - good luck -------------jrb"

Former Students/Student Athletes‪ Say:

"Arleen is a very wonderful caring person. "ONE" of her best qualities is......she doesn't just talk the talk, she WALKS the TALK! A lot of people talk a good game but Arleen she digs in there, rolls her sleeves up and puts the work in. She is a candidate you can trust, her word is her bond, she'll dig in deep and fight for your best interest!" - Dana Pinkney, Perris High School c/o 1974

"I can't think of anyone else more qualified for this position than YOU!! Let's get to WORK!!" - Rosinda Aguon Balignassy, Oceanside High School, 1990

"Hello Arleen,

I hope this email finds you well. I was a student of yours in the SDSU Credential Program a couple years back. You were also in charge of my student teaching observations for a semester when I worked at Eastlake Middle in Chula Vista.
I wanted to express my thanks to you for helping me through the program and preparing me for the steps ahead. I'm currently working as a Physical Education Teacher at Village Elementary in Coronado. This is my second year here and it's a struggle, but I think we're moving in the right direction.
In short, our program here seems to have a lot of support from staff, admin and the community, but we're definitely in a transitional phase. We're trying to move away from a physical activity model that has been the norm here from many years. I'm charged with ushering in a new phase of Physical Education [that] encourages standards-based instruction (state and CCSS). I think we've got quite a road ahead.
The training and motivation that you offered us throughout the program has proved invaluable time and again. "Backwards planning" systems, "unpacking" standards, legitimate assessments, high MVP, etc., are all integral parts of what we'd like to do here, and I'm glad to have had the experience of beginning to understand them under your guidance. I've been to a few in-service trainings and visitations to model Physical Education program school sites, and I see in practice those concepts that you exposed us to.
Anyhow, thanks again for being a driving force throughout our program. I imagine that you may have been working against the grain sometimes trying to shake myself and others out of our comfort zones and into a working understanding of best practices. But, from my perspective, I believe it was well worth it.

Sincerely, Kevin Killacky"
- SDSU Student Teacher, 2009

"I'd vote for you because you've dedicated most of your adult life to providing direction and leading by example to those you have taught/coached (like myself). This job, if selected, will enable you to provide that and much more to the children, parents and community of Oceanside. ........Arleen is an amazing person who truly cares about her students and community. She is the type of person who shows compassion and a real interest in making life better. Not to share my sad story but without Arleen, my high school experience would of been very different. Thank you Arleen for the time you took and the care you have always shown me and my family. Please show your support for her now by making those in your community aware." -Cecilia Ferreira Range, Oceanside High School c/o 1992

"I hope you win. It would be a plus to that district. You Go Girl!"
-David A. Belger, Perris High c/o 1973

‪"Your caring, no-nonsense, smart, kind, mindful, compassionate, and positive ways have directly affected so many of us, and I know that first hand. But your integrity is what sets you apart, and puts you in a league of your own, you'd be a major asset to this community, and I trust you'd handle the issues wholeheartedly and with the utmost care ...... plus I know you won't take any ........" - Janeen Missy, Oceanside High School, c/o 1988

‪"Everyone it's time to help out Arleen aka Mrs. Henry. She is running for OUSD school board and needs everyone's help. I think we all had contact with this wonderful special teacher during our years at Oceanside. Please help our with a donation and or repost for everyone to get involved". - Marc Beasley, Oceanside High School, 1990
