Preserving our water and our environment is my passion. I have worked tirelessly on water and civic matters in Santa Clara Country for nearly 18 years. I am an environmental lawyer with a Stanford University J.D..

At present, I am the Vice Chair of the Water District Board. In this capacity, I have show proactive leadership in the drought, have fought to make sure your voice was heard, your money spent wisely, your water and planet are protected and you are well-represented.

My other past work was as the Santa Clara County Advocate and spokesperson for Committee for Green Foothills, Earthjustice (formerly called Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund) and at the Environmental Law Clinic jointly run at Stanford Law School. I also worked at the private law firm Shute, Mihaly, & Weinberger LLP representing non-profits and government agencies on environmental issues throughout California.

Before law school, my career included starting a business, work at Denali National Park in Alaska, and extended volunteer work in the civil war zone in Southeast Asia (Burma) and with homeless children in South America. I have lived in the area since 1996 when I entered Stanford Law School. I graduated as a J.D. "with distinction" in 1999. My undergraduate degree is from Georgetown University, where I graduated in 1989 magna cum laude and as a National Merit Scholar.

Selected publications include:

  • Controlling Cumulative Impacts from Impervious Surfaces: Analysis and Recommendations for Santa Clara County
  • The Endangered Species Act Handbook, Second Edition (co-author)
  • Protecting Local Wetlands: A Toolbox for Your Community (co-author)
  • "Reconciling Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act with Native American Water Rights," Stanford Environmental Law Journal
