Providing every child the best education possible has been and will continue to be my passion and commitment! I am so proud of our growing successes in our schools and would like to continue the progress. So, I have decided to run again for re-election to serve on the Gilroy Unified School Board and I would once again appreciate your support.

Over the years, I have served as a tireless advocate for meeting the needs of ALL students, helping to keep the district focus on improving student achievement and helping EVERY student achieve their full potential. So much has been accomplished with our district leadership and supportive staff which promotes a culture for continuous improvement and excellence. Successes include significant and steady progress in state achievement scores (API), improving graduation rates, focus on college readiness, building supportive school environments, and equitable school facilities , second to none. All these accomplishments made possible under the steady leadership of our highly qualified superintendent and educational leadership team, in collaboration with of our dedicated and hardworking teachers and staff.

A big accomplishment has been the ongoing and highly successful implementation our District Facilities Plan which visibly reflects our community pride and commitment to the educational needs of our children! This was accomplished with the strong support of voters in passage of two school bonds, Measures I and P which have resulted in hundreds of millions for major school facilities improvements impacting all schools including the completion of our new Christopher High School, and so much more. Significant progress was also made in fiscal management stabilization with the help of passage of Proposition 30 and success in the building of an effective financial management team to sustain oversight of district resources and overcoming many financial challenges during the economic downturn. I will continue to advocate for high expectations for every student, support for teachers, effective oversight of district finances and long range facility planning to maintain quality schools for the future. My experience on the board has helped promote continuity, financial accountability, build a strong and successful board, district leadership team and support for teachers in the classroom. I will continue to fight for providing every school with the resources necessary so that all students are given the opportunity to succeed and excel. I will continue to listen to and support parents, teachers and staff, to provide for the highest quality instruction, in a nurturing learning environment at every school. Helping all students achieve proficiency and be successful will go a long way to addressing the dropout problem. Much progress is being made but much more needs to be done.

MY PRIORITIES WILL BE:

  • IMPROVING ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AND SUCCESS FOR ALL STUDENTS. No excuses for students not making progress!

  • COLLABORATION, LEADERSHIP AND SUPPORT FOR TEACHERS, STAFF and PARENTS, HELPING EVERY STUDENT ACHIEVE THEIR FULL POTENTIAL

  • EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT OF SCHOOL FINANCES and DISTRICT RESOURCES

  • PROVIDING FOR MORE COMPETITIVE WAGES to retain and hire highly qualified teachers and staff

  • EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP that facilitates collaboration at all levels + School Site focused on continuous improvement
  • SCHOOL FACILITIES IMPROVEMENT+Continued implementation of Facilities Master Plan funded by Measure P to upgrade school facility needs districtwide.

  • EFFECTIVE STRATEGIC TECHNOLOGY PLAN- Improving access to TECHNOLOGY for all students and staff and development of a strategy how to fund necessary for equipment, technical support, and staff training, to better prepare our students with the skills relevant for a 21st Century education and workforce.

  • ADVOCACY FOR SUSTAINABLE STATE FUNDING FOR PUBLIC EDUCATION. PROP 30 STATE FUNDING IS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX! PROP 30 WILL SOON BE ENDING.

Your support matters. I would appreciate your support and your vote. Working together, we can continue to provide high performing schools for ALL students. Thank you! Jaime Rosso School Board Trustee and Candidate for Re-election Gilroy School Unified District
