Questions & Answers

1. How would you determine that the schools are using federal, state and local funds wisely and fairly and how would you report your findings to the community?

Through continual audits and assessments of the various programs, we can determine if funds are being used effectively and in accordance to the law. At present, I hold meetings for the committees which I chair in the various school sites thereby providing an opportunity for community and parent engagement at the local level.

2. Are the schools offering instruction appropriate to the diverse educational abilities of all the students?

Alum Rock schools are providing an array of programs and services that meet the needs of our diverse student population. Furthermore, through the development of the local control accountability plan we have developed a thorough plan that seeks to meet the needs of some of our most vulnerable student groups.

3. Where do you want the District to be five years from now? What steps should the District take to get there?

I see Alum Rock as a strong robust district that is growing. I see us fully implementing many of the pilot programs that are at the beginning stages today. I see Alum Rock providing a quality and dignified education to each and everyone of its students. The steps that we must take as a district is to continue the positive direction in which we are heading. We must continue to engage in out of the box thinking which will make us more competitive and allow us to provide a high quality and well rounded education.
