MY BACKGROUND
I have been involved in the district for over 14 years, starting when my oldest child enrolled in Kindergarten at Loyola School. Before joining the board, I served as PTA Legislative chair and on the Citizens Advisory Committee for Finance (CACF). This is my 5th year serving as a Trustee for the Los Altos School District. During this time, the District has provided a great program for our children and it has improved in amazing ways.

On a personal level, my husband and I have 2 children, Alex, who is attending San Diego State University, and Rachel, who is a Junior at Mountain View High School. I run and own a software consulting business and have an BS in Math and Computer Science from Western Ky. University and an MS in Math from Stanford. Public education is one of my passions and I read about local, state and national issues each day.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS
As a school board trustee, my duties are to develop goals and guidelines for the district, establish policy, provide fiduciary oversight and direction and to represent the community and its taxpayers. The best decision made by our board during my term was hiring Jeff Baier to serve as superintendent and giving him the freedom to find others who can implement the district vision. With the board's direction and his team's skilled implementation we have:

  • Increased district reserves while improving our educational program
  • With the financial support of LAEF, enriched our fundamental program by adding Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) labs at every elementary school
  • Created positions for specialists to spread innovative teaching strategies throughout the district
  • Added junior high electives such as "My 14%" that allow adolescents to explore their passions
  • Implemented programing classes for all 6th graders.

5 YEAR AGREEMENT WITH BULLIS CHARTER SCHOOL
Beyond the direct improvement of our children's education, as board president, I led the district team in reaching a 5 year agreement to bring a measure of peace with Bullis Charter School. This agreement gives our community the opportunity to heal while we work to develop new facilities that will provide a long-term solution to enrollment growth. I am very proud of this accomplishment.
