We're at a critical turning point in education in California. Do you know that for the first time in California history, voters like us can now determine the priorities for our local schools? It's a new system called the "Local Control Accountability Plan" or LCAP. Every spring voters can assemble to voice our hopes, concerns and new ideas for how we should allocate funding for our public schools in Morgan Hill, the South San Jose area and San Martin. Your ideas are then taken by the Superintendent and his staff and then sent to the Morgan Hill Unified School District (MHUSD) board for their review and decisions.

This is where I come into the picture. I want to represent you on the School Board so that I can draw out the best fresh thinking and ideas from you, the community, so that we can turn our School District into an "Academic Powerhouse", with the very best schools in Santa Clara County.

We have some tremendous teachers to teach our kids, but not all of our schools are doing as well as others in the District--and overall our MHUSD test scores on the SAT college entrance exam are far below the County average. Unfortunately, our District SAT scores have actually gone backward since 2006.

Yes, we are making some progress, but not enough, and not fast enough and not for ALL kids. I will work hard to accelerate our progress.
