First and foremost, I am a private practicing neurologist in the South Bay for over 35 years. Through this time, I have learned the intricacies of health care and gained a thorough appreciation of how everyday medical issues, no matter how small it may seem, can affect all aspects of our lives. The health of the district constituents will be the number one priority in my mind as I provide strategic and knowledgeable leadership to the Board.

As the Stroke Medical Director at El Camino Hospital, committed to the highest quality of care, I have successfully elevated our Stroke Center to the top 5% in the nation, producing both outstanding outcomes and top patient satisfaction. We are the recipient of the Gold Plus Award from The American Heart Association 4 years in a row. This week we just completed a review of the program by the Joint Commission, which is done every 2 years for continual certification of Stroke Centers in the country. This is the fourth review (over the last 8 years) where the program was found to have NO deficiencies in the care we provide to our stroke patients. In closing, the reviewer stated "I am amazed at such an unblemished track record; you have a strong stroke program, and a great medical director whose passion overwhelmed me from the beginning and was reflected throughout the last 2 days." My unflagging commitment to stroke care is integral to the growth and maturation our successful program. This now will be extended to the health fare of the residents.

As one of the founding members of the hospital's Chinese Health Initiative (CHI), I reduced the disparity of poor healthcare of our Chinese population, lifting the entire community to the forefront of medical care, especially around topics of stroke, cardiovascular disease and hepatitis. I will continue to contribute and enhance this effort to all ethnic groups of the community.

My experiences are reflections of my passion as an advocate for the community. They represent my ability to communicate effectively, build consensus and collaboration across multiple stakeholders, and rally support for a common cause + health. In this uncertain and ever complicating healthcare market, you need a strong voice on the El Camino Healthcare District Board. I have the skill and energy to provide insightful strategic input to the Board, and to lead the facilities to providing optimal, efficient, and compassionate care to the District residents.
