"As a candidate for the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District Board of Directors representing Ward 1, Mt Umunhum falls directly within the boundaries of what would be my geographical constituency. In addition I feel I have a responsibility to the greater public as a whole, even those

"Located high above the South Bay I see Mt Umunhum as a potential jewel of the district lands and the greater area as a whole. The educational, historical and cultural aspects of the location are limitless. I see a vast amount of public support to maintain and restore the Radar Tower at the former Almaden Air Force Station. I would work to achieve this goal. If this is the public's desire then it would be my duty as an elected official to follow it to fruition. I can honestly say I can't imagine ever casting a vote that would promote destruction of the tower. I also feel public access for all users groups should be provided as soon as logistically possible. In order to achieve this, input and communication with local landowners is paramount. They are the most familiar with the area and their thoughts and concerns are all relevant to a process that is satisfying for all involved. It is my hope that this peak would put the district into the forefront of the public's mind in the area."
