The mission of the Los Rios Community College District Board (LRCCD) is simple: to provide outstanding programs and services so that all students meet and exceed their personal, educational, career and social goals and to meet the social and economic needs of the community.

My mission - and my primary reasons for running - is also relatively simple:

• The greatest challenge facing the LRCCD is college-level math readiness and remediation. I want to locate resources and align with other education system partners to better prepare students in advance of college and reduce the need for remediation.

• A second challenge for LRCCD is today's changing workforce. Today's college student is often older, working part-time and/or looking to re-tool/re-skill themselves. I want the District continue to be the best provider of services, in this region, to meet the needs of these types of students and will support policies to ensure that's the case.

• Third, LRCCD must continue to be on the forefront of utilizing the most current technologies to provide as many students as possible access to the classroom. Online education - including digital badging and other technologies - continue to gain support and provide new mechanisms through which many students complete their education. I want the District to remain a leader in this area and to aggressively and thoroughly analyze trends, evolve as new technologies come online and remain ahead of the education technology curve.
