Donovan was born in New Roads, Louisiana in 1970, but relocated to 29 Palms Marine Corps Base with his parents six months later. After losing his father in 1975 and being raised with his older brother Donald Maloid Jr. by his widowed mother, she purchased a home near March Air Force Base in the town of Edgemont in 1977 and established "roots of origin" for her and her children to call home. In 1982, military service took the family to Okinawa, Japan until their return in 1987 where Donovan graduated from high school. Two days after graduation, he found himself in the United States Air Force and returned to March AFB as a member of the 452nd Air Refueling Wing serving in Operations Shield and Desert Storm in 1990-1991.Upon the closure of March AFB, he was transferred to Travis AFB and subsequent military assignments that encompassed a 24yr career in aviation. While serving, he worked part-time for civilian airlines and airports knowing that he would transition into those fields using his military experience. Donovan is a distinguished graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and holds a BS and AS in Professional Aeronautics with a minor in Aviation Safety. He is also a graduate of Riverside City College with an AA in Management. In addition, he holds degrees from: Community College of the Air Force -AAS Aviation Operations, Community College of the Air Force -AAS Aviation Maintenance Technology, San Diego Miramar College -AS Private Pilot Studies, Vincennes University -AS General Studies, San Bernardino Valley College -AA Liberal Studies, Coastline Community College -AA Social and Behavioral Science, and Coastline Community College -AA American Studies Donovan comes from a long line of military serving family of Navy and Marine soldiers. He was the first to enter the USAF. Donovan's family is composed of his mother who was in the U.S. Army(retired), father a USMC aviator(deceased) and an older brother who was in the USMC and is now a USAF Msgt. Donovan likes to spend time with his dog Belle and cats Felix and Misty whom he rescued from the local animal shelter. Some of his interests are traveling, reading, acting, flying, music, politics, public service, and serving his church. |
