Candidate for
Council Member; City of La Quinta

This information is provided by the candidate

We are fortunate to live in a wonderful community. These are my priorities as a candidate for La Quinta City Council.

Strive for Economic Development

My number one priority is to create jobs and work to improve our local economy. I hold a Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University. As a businessman, and as a business educator, I believe in cutting government red tape, streamlining business fees and lessening the burden of over regulation that impacts both business owners and employees. Challenges can be turned into opportunities by working methodically, decisively and transparently.

Economic Development: "Come for fun, and stay for business" should be the mantra of La Quinta. We need a strategy for growth and for diversified economic development. We must attract specific business ventures which would provide an increase to our tax revenue base while maintaining our "Gem of the Desert" ambiance.

Our Businesses: Existing local business needs support in this economy; and the City Council should help with marketing dollars.

We need to create FLOW by defragmenting our offering so businesses can get optimal traffic. Why shouldn't a visitor or a resident be able to park in a spot and get lost in La Quinta for a full day without having to use the car? We can create springboard opportunities among the La Quinta stakeholders.

A Preeminent Destination: Becoming the preeminent destination in the desert is in our destiny. However, it doesn't preclude us from exploring other opportunities so that we can insulate from the cyclical conditions of tourism: Biotech + Long Term Care + Medical + Research & Development + Pre & Post Production. Our local businesses will benefit. New jobs and career opportunities will be created.

Infrastructure:Infrastructure must be maintained to preserve and enhance the "La Quinta brand." I pledge a value forward approach.

Strive for Law Enforcement and Public Safety

Public Safety: Dependable public safety and law enforcement must be kept at adequate levels while maintaining control of costs for contracted services. I'm a strong proponent of giving our local law enforcement and public safety professionals the support and resources they need to protect our community. I believe that a safe city is a prosperous city.

Strive for Efficiency in City Government

Fiscally Conservative Policies: It is important that we balance revenue and expenditures to maintain healthy reserves for the city. I'm a common sense fiscally responsible businessman who gets things done. I pledge to work for all residents of La Quinta, not just a select few. Given my professional background, I will provide the necessary leadership to turn challenges into opportunities.

Annexation: Annexation of land for sole residential developments does not make economic sense. Annexation should be contemplated when land use will be zoned for business which will increase the tax revenue base. A ratio "residential to business" must be devised. We should look for specific types of business ventures such as clinical research, biotechnology, and acute care facilities which have affinity with our surroundings.

I would very much appreciate you sharing your ideas and concerns with me. Please feel free to post questions or comments here below, or email me at electrobertradi@gmail.com - Thank You!
