My name is Dr. Yxstian Alberto Gutierrez, and I running to be your City Councilman of District 4 for the City of Moreno Valley.

I have lived for the past 21 years in Moreno Valley, District 4. I am a proud graduate and product of MVUSD schools, Armada Elementary, Landmark Middle, and Valley View High School. As a student growing up in Moreno Valley, I struggled in class and with learning, but with the help of mentors and teachers, I excelled in high school and college. I graduated with my AA/AS degrees from Moreno Valley College, and then attended and graduated from California Baptist University with my Bachelors degree. I then attended Chapman University College and completed my teaching credentials and then my Masters degree from American Intercontinental University. I decided to continue my education in the area of students with disabilities. In May 2013, I completed my Doctorate degree. Recently, I completed the New Mayors and Council Members' Academy, and I am an alumnus of USC's School of Price program in Executive Education in Public Policy.

I have been a Special Education Resource Specialist Teacher for the past 8 years (going on 9) with Moreno Valley Unified School District. I have also taught and continue to teach with Moreno Valley College as a part-time Reading professor. In Moreno Valley, I have successfully owned Berrybean Café, coffee house and sandwich bar, but recently sold the business. I have been an active member of the Chamber of Commerce and a current member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

I would like the opportunity and chance to:
1. Advocate for MORE JOBS in Moreno Valley by supporting small businesses AND bringing economic .
2. Advocate for NO more taxes!
3. Reduce spending and maintain a BALANCED BUDGET!
4. Increase educational partnerships with neighboring school districts and colleges to increase the graduation and transfer rates, but also the vocational and business training needed in our communities.
5. ADVOCATE FOR PUBLIC SAFETY resources in district 4.
6. Expand Music/Arts programs for our children.
