It has been a tremendous honor serving as your representative on the Western Municipal Water District Board (WMWD) since 2007. As we all continue to feel the effects of California's historic drought we are reminded of the importance of responsible, prudent planning. Now more than ever, our region needs a representative who understands the many challenges we face in California's water supply. I remain committed to maintaining high water quality at the most affordable and environmentally safe ways possible.
While serving on the WMWD Board of Directors, it has been a privilege to be a part of the following accomplishments:
- Reduced property taxes in the CFD's by refinancing the bond obligation without an annual escalator or extending the terms.
- Saved the district 500K + 1 million dollars in medical benefits without reducing coverage, over a ten year period
- Established one of the first low income assistance programs to assist low income qualified individuals
- Sponsorships of local education programs
- Local water supplies + Murrieta
- Seven Oaks water rights capture permit
- Chino Desalter Grant EPA + one of the largest ever given by the State of California
- Solar + reducing our carbon footprint
Supporting and encouraging public involvement has proven to be a win / win situation. I want to continue to be the voice of the residents. Southern California will have many challenges to face in the future with increasing demands on our water supplies. Planning for our future will be of paramount importance to all of us. Whether you are a resident, homeowner, business owner, farmer, or a child in school you will need water to maintain your quality of life. We as a society simply cannot go without water.
My goals continue to be;
- To gain continued insight from water experts, professionals, district staff, to correctly identify solutions to existing concerns and meet future needs.
- To continue to maintain a balanced budget and be fiscally responsible for all the rate payers.
- To reexamine existing water demand management, system conditions, and infrastructure.
- To prioritize an action plan to maintain those services and needs without compromise to water quality.
- To support increased public participation.
- To support conservation and efficiency.
Together with your vote we can continue to meet all of our water needs today and tomorrow.
