Greg Shellenbergar Short Bio

By Greg Shellenbergar

Candidate for Board Member; Los Alamitos Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Greg Shellenbergar has lived in the Rossmoor/Los Alamitos area since 2003. His interest in joining the Los Alamitos Unified School District Board stems from his desire to ensure that all children receive an outstanding education.

Supporting the school district's goals, Greg has an invested interest in the district as he has three boys in the Los Alamitos Unified School District: a 3rd grader at Lee Elementary, a 6th grader at McAuliffe Middle School, and a freshman at Los Alamitos High School. Supporting this goal, his wife Cheryl, a product of the Los Alamitos USD, is a teacher in in the Downey Unified School District.

Greg has been involved in many community charitable situations through his connections at AMC. He has helped organize and execute major events to promote reading and to support underprivileged students and foster children. These programs have been connected through the "Spark of Love" campaign and various reading and film events through the LA County Board of Supervisors and "Operation Read". These events have effected many thousands of school age youths aged 5 to 18 years across Southern California.

After Greg Shellenbergar received his BBA in Management from SW Texas State University in 1991, he moved to Southern California from the State of Texas. He was immediately employed by American Multi Cinema, Inc. and has held the position of General Manager since 1995. He has managed and operated some of the busiest movie theatres in the U.S. He currently manages an operation with almost 100 associates including 6 managers. These responsibilities have helped him develop expertise in human resources, facilities management, and financial management (including increasing revenues, controlling expenses, meeting budgets, and handling emergency expenditures).

Greg Shellenbergar feels that to ensure that every student receives the best education possible, communication between the School Board and the community should continue to be open and a two-way conversation. It is his belief that an outstanding education for children improves the quality of the current community and will reach into and be effective in the surrounding communities as well.
