I have chosen to run one more time because I feel that we need the next four years to cement our work and progress and continue our focus on moving forward. Some of our local accomplishments these last four years are:

Many of our schools were pilot sites for our chrome books technology initiative (integrating technology into the classroom to make learning more engaging and relevant).

Carl Hankey became our first IB K-8 school + this is a real-world critical thinking curriculum that requires a lot of upfront and continuous work to achieve.

Newhart has a beautiful new multi-purpose room.

Newhart has an organic garden and an urban garden elective that will be linked in to the curriculum for both special and general ed students for hands on learning in science.

We adopted a new charter school at Barcelona.

We brought a very successful dual immersion program into Viejo, a school that had declining enrollment .

We built a state of the art theater at Capo HS that not only will be used for the arts but for learning engineering as well.

We have almost completed a beautiful courtyard/eating area so our kids don't have to eat on the floor.

We applied for and received a multi-million dollar grant to implement a STEM academy at Capo HS.

We added engineering classes to the election wheel at Newhart.

We created virtual field trips through a partnership with National Parks and Rec.

We have provided more professional development for our educators to enhance the student learning experience.

We have more rigorous classes in both CTE and A-G focused on college and career readiness.

We have more charter schools/choice than most other districts in Orange County.

We had all of our high schools make the US News and World Report Best High School's List.

We increased our bond ratings.

We brought back a full school year with reduced class sizes.

We approved the early termination and refinancing of many CFDs and, in doing so, saved MV residents tens of millions of dollars.

We are the highest scoring, large school district in California.

In sum, we saved our residents millions of dollars, we support choice, we significantly improved culture, facilities, rigor, teaching and learning and our home values are growing accordingly. We are on an extraordinary positive trajectory that will require a consistent message and a concerted effort to ensure it continues.
