Mission

By Jim Cunneen

Candidate for Board Member; Fountain Valley School District

This information is provided by the candidate
The mission of the Fountain Valley School District is to prepare today's youth for tomorrow's future. I'd like to support this mission and efforts for high achievement by serving as a Board Member.

Challenges include the need for greater public awareness and continued responsible spending. Our District has successfully improved student achievement while maintaining high levels of excellence as shown by leading test scores, teacher awards, and added distinguished school site. Wise decisions must also be reached in allocating scarce school dollars in a cautious approach.

I hold law and engineering degrees and have many years of successful managerial experience. I'm responsible for leading professionals while overseeing a multi-million-dollar annual budget. Transparent leadership, disciplined and efficient spending and solid academic instruction for students will be my top priorities.

My wife, a local high school teacher and I are proud parents of five who have benefited from being educated in our school district. As a voulnteer, I serve on Fountain Valley's Planning Commission, Cox's School Site Council, the District's Action Committee for Education, and our church choir.

I look forward to serving you by analyzing the issues to make sound decisions which will lead to continued improvement of student's academic achievements.

I appreciate your vote and support in November 2014.

Sincerely,

Jim Cunneen
