Irvine boasts the outstanding schools

Irvine is known for excellent public schools. Irvine City Council invests $9.2 million a year in schools in Irvine to keep the Irvine schools excellent.
I started out my political career as a Trustee of Irvine Unified School District. I am known to be an educator. I have supported and initiated many City Council actions in support of the schools, teachers and students. I have formed Mayor's Education Forum to bring about community educational programs to the citizens. The Forum sponsors an annual event to discuss important children related issues in a town-hall-like setting for all citizens, parents and the business community.

The Forum topic in 2013 was on autism, and this year in 2014 is the Common Core Standard, a new curriculum being implemented in California schools including the Irvine Unified School District.
