Statement of Candidacy for City Council City of Pacific Grove November 6, 2012

My profession as a filmmaker has taken me all over the world and back to PG to film the Pet Parade near the home my wife Clemencia and I have owned for 25 years. My volunteer experience at the Monarch Grove Sanctuary with trees and flowers has taught me what we can accomplish when we come together as a community. In the past I served on the PG Affordable Housing Committee, was a Community Mediator and a member of the Fair Share for PG Neighborhood Group. Community facilities and services need to be open more regularly and affordable to PG citizens. This would not require new property taxes but could be paid for by higher taxes on large corporations which currently pay a maximum of $3000 annually to do business here PG should not be involved in the water business. City staff should be refocused on public safety and other contracts to ensure the continuation of the fine service of the past. The economy has presented us with many new challenges. Hard decisions have to be made. This is only possible if the Council has all the necessary information from staff and the input of the citizens.

Holman NO on F / YES to a right sized hotel YES to new concepts for downtown how about an art school in the movie house, or a nursing school and clinic, not only does it bring life to the down town but will provide jobs. YES on Library Funding New taxes on large corporations like Safeway and Trader Joe's that now only pay $3,000 a year in business tax YES on Making the right Decisions for all of us Yes on changing my mind if I am wrong about a position to do what is right for our city Thanks
