I can make a difference on the critical issues this community has to face:

  • For far too long, the Peninsula's various water and wastewater agencies, cities, special districts and the County have been protecting their turf instead of working together to provide a sustainable, affordable water supply. State water officials are about to restrict California American Water's ability to take water from the Carmel River aquifer. If that happens, Monterey and its neighboring cities will suffer economic disaster, and they will be looking to take water from us in Marina.
  • We have several water supply issues of our own in meeting our commitments for drinking water and irrigation in central Marina, in growth areas of Marina, and at Fort Ord.
  • As a board member of the Marina Coast Water District, I continue to fight for the financial reimbursements the district is owed by Cal Am. The district has won some significant court rulings that may lead to as much as $18 million in reimbursement.
  • With that money, the district would able to go ahead with potable water supply for Fort Ord, and for resurrecting the Regional Urban Water Augmentation Project (RUWAP) by which the district can deliver recycled water to California State University Monterey Bay, the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District, East Garrison housing and other housing at Fort Ord, and perhaps, for projects in Del Rey Oaks and Monterey's Ryan Ranch.
  • These projects need expert leadership. I have that leadership experience. The community cannot change horses in midstream, cannot change its direction on water supply, and cannot let others control growth, take our water and leave us economically derelict here in Marina.

That's why I am asking for your vote, because we need to Protect our Most Valuable Resource: Water.

Marina is where I have made my home for 40 years; I want it to remain a vibrant community for my family and yours. I am a retired Army major, an expert in security systems, and a manager in water facility construction, overseeing the construction of the Toro wastewater facility. To continue working on that future, I need your support for election. With you as a financial contributor, volunteer, and/or voter, I can help preserve the values of Marina. I am already making plans for messaging, literature, signs, walking campaigns, phone banking and events.
