Using Indirect Potable Reuse to diversify our water supply.

By Stephen Murray

Candidate for Member, Board of Directors; West Basin Municipal Water District; Division 4

This information is provided by the candidate
By indirect recycling of our drinking water we can reduce water waste and supplement our local groundwater supply.
West Basin has a world class recycling plant in El Segundo. It takes processed water from the Hyperion Treatment plant and recycles it for reuse. There's a saying in the water industry. "there is no new water" Everything is recycled. I'm proposing to take the high quality drinking water, let it filter further through natural processes into our groundwater, And reintroduce it to our water supply. This is called Indirect Potable Reuse (IPR). San Diego, San Francisco, Orange County and others are using IPR as a local supply source.

It's safe, practical and cost-effective.
