Trustee I believe in the community college system and its critical role in providing educational and communal opportunities for a diverse cross-section of our community. As a trustee, these beliefs have been transformed into action insuring that SMC continues to provide an excellent education and remains a positive force for our community.

I joined the board as an experienced educator and community leader with a commitment to SMC, its students, faculty and staff.

My priorities have become accomplishments, such as

  • Continuing high quality education and workplace preparation
  • Recruiting and retaining excellent faculty and staff
  • Providing sound fiscal management
  • Enhancing community partnerships including with the cities of Santa Monica, Malibu, Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District, community organizations and neighbors
  • Strengthening collaborations especially with youth, senior and cultural programs
  • Establishing a Public Policy Institute

Educator As an educator (Doctorate of Education) and social worker (MSW), my career has been in the public and nonprofit section. Currently, I am employed as the Director of Police Community Services at UCLA, engaged in a variety of issues/programs that impact the greater campus community, such as sexual assault, mental health, hate crimes and victimization prevention. Responsible for internal and external community relations, I am also privileged to manage the UCLA PD student programs including: Community Service Officers and the national award winning Emergency Medical Services program. My work with victims of sexual assault was acknowledged with the national Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Award.

SMC changes lives everyday and I am committed to keeping it strong.
