Why I want to serve

By Gerald W Lillpop

Candidate for Director; Cameron Park Community Services District; Unexpired Short Term

This information is provided by the candidate
A summary of my experience and activities on behalf of Cameron Park and El Dorado County
My name is Gerald W. Lillpop and I am running for the Cameron Park Community Services District (CSD) board of directors. The reason I want to serve on the board of directors is to bring fiscal balance and accountability to Cameron Park. I want to create policies to contain costs and see to it that all revenue generating opportunity that the CSD have are explored and utilized. I want to work for and serve the interests of the citizens of Cameron Park as I have done as a volunteer with the CSD for over three years. And I want to insure that our Fire and Emergency services are protected and fully funded.

My achievements and community advocacy includes being a member of the CC&R Committee, I volunteered and helped the general manager and staff develop the current marketing plan for the CSD, I helped write Ordinance 2011-5 regarding the usage of Quimby Funds and that I have helped get the Fifty+ Room for mature CSD residents opened. I have attended every regular board meeting since August 2010 and I am familiar with the issues confronting Cameron Park and in addition this year I have attended every budget meeting.

As a citizen I suggested to the CSD general manager and board of directors combining the Summer Spectacular with an event like the Grillin and Chillin Barbeque competition that the CSD sponsored or a chili cook off in order to get more people to attend. I have proposed that the CSD staff market Cameron Park Lake and the Community Center as a package deal for weddings. This would give a bride a beautiful setting for her wedding and wedding photos, the lake, and a very modern clean facility to have her reception at, the community center. I have suggested that when the CSD redesigns their website that the give community and service groups space on it. An example of how to generate revenues is providing EDDOG a page at the Hacienda Park section of the website that would feature the off leash dog park that they have built. The CSD could then go to veterinarians, pet supply stores, dog groomers and sell advertising on this page. I have identified at least six more groups that the CSD could do this with. These are just a few of the suggestions that I have made to help strengthen Cameron Park's financial position.

My volunteer work includes activities for Snowline Hospice, El Dorado Arts Council, El Dorado County Food Bank, Friends of Seniors, Senior Peer Counseling and Partners in Care. I am on the El Dorado County Community Action Council and I am the Chairperson.

If you want to know what else I want to do for Cameron Park or have questions contact me at 916-222-7258 or glillpop4csdboard@gmail.com.

If you want fiscal balance and accountability vote for me Gerald W. Lillpop, I'll represent the taxpayers of Cameron Park.
