As a parent, small business owner, and community leader, Uche understands Richmond's need for new ideas and new leadership at a critical moment in the city's history. Uche is a product of the Washington, D.C. public school system where he began his community work by organizing coat and food drives for homeless people. Uche has continued his advocacy for the less privileged for the past two decades. Uche comes from a humble beginning maintaining a full time job while attending undergraduate, graduate and law schools. Uche graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science degree. He later attended JFK University and East Bay Law Schools earning his Juris Doctorate. Uche attended Golden Gate University Business School, where he earned his MBA in Business Management.

In addition to his 20 years of experience managing companies and organizations, Uche has taught undergraduate courses in Project Management and Organizational Excellence. These experiences have given Uche the insights on how to close the growing economic and opportunity gaps in our city and educate our youth. As Mayor, Uche's priority will be to improve and strengthen our community, our schools, and our quality of life, specifically by providing solutions to jobs, safety, and education.

Uche has been a longtime resident of Richmond after moving from Washington, DC. In addition, Uche serves on several boards, including: President, East Bay Community Development Corporation; President, Goldie Care Homes; Contra Costa County Economic Opportunity Council; and Richmond Workforce Investment Board. Uche was a community organizer for both Barack Obama's presidential campaigns and was elected Democratic National Committee Delegate for Contra Costa County District 11. Uche currently works with the Obama White House Business Council and Small Business Majority on several issues, including but not limited to: Local workforce investment, international trade, transportation, education, and common sense comprehensive immigration that will help stimulate business growth. He has two sons, Lemuel and Isaiah with wife, Adaku.
