Classroom Technology

By Chester R. Stevens

Candidate for Board Member; West Contra Costa Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Classrooms are not taking full advantage of available technology to make learning more efficient, engaging and effective. We must reform and evolve if we want to improve student performance.
Better use of classroom technology can make teaching more efficient, engaging and effective. The technology is here now. Let us support our teachers by making it readily available and painless to use. Let us put it in the hands of students and reduce the number of over-priced, over-weight and corporate pushed books. One book for the home and one book for the classroom is waste. Educating our students in the use of technology for all classes, especially in areas of math and science, is critical for our 21st century needs. Education is evolving. WCCUSD must evolve also. Teachers must address the whole child, Teaching Methods and Technology must be world-class. Our goal must be to develop children who are whole, intelligent, respectful, and academically proficient.
