Candidate for
Board Member; Walnut Creek School District

My family moved to Walnut Creek in 2004 so that my sons could attend school in the WCSD. Garrett is currently a sophomore at the University of Arizona and Jake is in the eighth grade at Walnut Creek Intermediate. With that move came my resolve to be involved in public education. As such, I have worked in our schools continuously in a variety of capacities over the past decade.

I have served as PTA President at the elementary, middle and high school levels, served on the board of the Walnut Creek Education Foundation, was a member of the WCSD/AUHSD Parcel Tax Committee and have held various positions on other school and athletic committees and foundations. I am currently employed as the Finance Technician at Las Lomas High School where I have had the opportunity to broaden my knowledge and perspective of school finance and function.

Volunteering in the schools has fueled my passion for education and my involvement has offered me a solid understanding of current issues. Local Control Funding, Common Core curriculum implementation and the return of the Dorris-Eaton campus to the district are just some of the issues currently being faced. I hope to use my experience to participate in these and other important discussions as a member of the Governing Board, and through collaboration with parents and community, contribute to the continued success of the students of the Walnut Creek School District.
