Denise Jennison, in a nutshell.Serving on the school board in a district like the San Ramon Valley is a huge responsibility. I am running for re-election to the board because I believe that I am the right person for the job. I have spent the last 4 years as an active, involved board member who has built strong relationships in our schools, with our legislators, and with our community. I have worked hard to create a climate of trust where people believe in my abilities to lead. Even before being elected to the board, I spent the better part of 15 years deeply engrained in the education community of the San Ramon Valley. I am a recently trained teacher. I received a state of the art education that gives me the unique perspective of knowing what is new in education -- and provides me with the expertise to know what will work for children in the classroom. The San Ramon Valley Unified School District is one of the top performing school districts in California. It's a destination district for families with children and being on the board is a destination for me, personally. I've been around long enough to have seen many fads come and go in the schools. In a time of great change in education + from the implementation of Common Core, to the challenges of the LCFF and LCAP, what we need is an experienced board that will continue to put the needs of the students in the classroom at the forefront of every decision. Local control is best executed in the hands of experience. Having a child currently in our schools, as well as having adult children who have been through our schools and who have chosen different post-secondary options, makes me uniquely positioned to understand the needs of all students. I am prepared and experienced and I would appreciate your vote. |
