Candidate for
Board Member; Mount Diablo Unified School District

Education has been my career and my commitment.

I have been a middle and high school teacher, a high school vice principal, a high school principal, a County Office of Education administrator providing professional development, and, for the past four years, a Mt. Diablo USD School Board member.

I have a strong commitment to the Mt. Diablo Unified community because this is where I began my educational career, dedicating my first 24 years as a teacher and administrator to this district and its students.

Serving on the School Board has been an opportunity for me to give back to our students, our community, and our district.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

• Teacher at Oak Grove Middle, Northgate High, Olympic High, and Ygnacio Valley High, Mt. Diablo USD

• Vice Principal at College Park High, Mt. Diablo USD

• Assistant Principal at Alhambra High, Martinez USD

• Principal, opening Rodriguez High, Fairfield-Suisun USD's third high school. This gave me the unique opportunity to be the founding principal of a brand new high school, to develop and create a new vision and culture for student learning. I spent a year prior to the opening of the high school serving not only as the principal, but also as a public relations officer, a treasurer, a counselor, an athletic director, a registrar, a cheerleading coach, a student body advisor, and a liaison with all the other schools in the district.

• Administrator, Instructional Leadership, Contra Costa County Office of Education, providing professional development for districts, schools, teachers, and administrators throughout Contra Costa County and the State. Along with working with individual schools and districts on effective instructional practices and program improvement, I also provided Tier II Administrator Credential training for experienced school administrators from districts and counties throughout the state over my ten-year career at Contra Costa COE.
