Orinda Needs a City Plan

By Linda Delehunt

Candidate for Council Member; City of Orinda

This information is provided by the candidate
Cities are mandated to have a general plan. Orinda's general plan expired in 2007. The city cannot make ad hoc amendments to a plan that has not been ratified and discussed by residents.
Orinda's general plan was created in 1987 and has expired. Even though the plan has expired, the City continues to approve projects that do not comply with the City Plan as it currently exists. This is unacceptable as this process fails to incorporate citizen input and operates outside the limits of the law.

Citizens need an opportunity to weigh in on the detail of the City's general plan and in particular, its downtown plan. Orinda needs to operate within the legal guidelines as set forth for the appropriate operation of a city. We need to create a general plan with a detailed downtown plan, with citizen input, immediately.
