Why I am running for the Board

Some personal notes...why I could help solve some of the immediate issues.

Neither do I.

My wife and I moved here about nine years ago. We wanted to move closer to our kids. We landed in Kensington by chance. We love it

I worked as an architect for about 40 years. I have taken on a sort of semi-retirement role as an inspector of public school construction in a state program designed to protect our children from earthquakes and fire, and to assure accessibility to all.

As a result, I know a certain amount, not only about buildings and construction, structural soundness and codes, but also about solving problems, working things out, dealing with different kinds of people with different agendas, listening and cooperating, getting to work on the real issues.

I think that I could apply a lot of this to what Kensington has to deal with right now:

Now that Measure L is behind us, what are the necessary and practical things we can do to make the Community Building safe and functional, and better suited to our needs? How can we keep the kind of Police services that we want and need?

How can we keep the kind of trash collection services that most of us like very much at a fair price going into the future?

How can we do what needs to be done in Kensington with the resources that we have?

This is what a new Board needs to work on. I hope that I will be working together with all of you in the future.
