This information is provided by the candidate

Linda has been a leader in keeping Berkeley the kind of town that reflects our community's shared values of sustaining the environment, public safety, a safety net for the most vulnerable, the arts, education, and health.

Raising her children as a single mother, she experienced first-hand the difficulties families of limited means faced in securing stable affordable housing. As a small business co-owner, she has known the challenges of starting-up, operating, and maintaining its success within the Bay Area economy. As a civic leader, Linda has educated herself on the needs and costs of essential government services, and takes her role as our decision-making representative very seriously.

Linda utilizes her role on the Berkeley City Council to effect change at many levels to benefit Berkeley's citizens. Linda takes a collaborative approach with environmental groups, State agencies, and Federal officials on issues important to Berkeley, such as stopping the shipment of hazardous crude oil by rail through our city and working to improve our children's health.
