The fourth generation of his family to make Fremont their home, Dirk Lorenz has lived his life centered on two lessons he learned from his grandfather, Tony Alameda. The first--we are responsible for our community, and the second, we have an obligation to give back to our community

His three small businesses--Fremont Flowers, Bay Area Wholesale Florist and the Centerville Depot Café are Fremont businesses that have a long history of giving back to our community. Dirk is a member, Executive Boardmember and former Chairman of the Fremont Chamber of Commerce.

As Chairman of the Fremont Festival of the Arts, for the eighth year in a row, he is proud that the festival gives non-profit organizations the opportunity to raise money, to date over $9 million has been raised for Fremont non-profit organizations.

Dirk's involvement in Fremont doesn't end with his contributions as a business owner. Dirk serves as: a member of Niles Rotary, a Trustee for the Washington Hospital Foundation, Outreach Representative for the Altamont Corridor Express, he founded the Center Theatre Preservation Group, an Associate Boardmember for the Fremont Education Foundation and for more than nine years as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Fremont.

Dirk has watched and participated in our growth from the sleepy suburb of his youth to a thriving dynamic city of the twenty-first century. Dirk and Fremont grew up together and he has a deep appreciation for the history of our city. As a Councilmember Dirk will work hard to preserve the best parts of Fremont while shaping and securing Fremont's future.

As the owner of Fremont Flowers Dirk understands the importance of customer service and customers first is exactly the perspective he will bring to the City Council. He knows first-hand that Fremont residents want safer neighborhoods, stronger schools, quality retail businesses, and additional public amenities.

Fremont is a great city but Dirk believes by working together, we can make it even better. Safer neighborhoods, better streets, protecting neighborhood schools, strong local businesses, especially small businesses, undeveloped hillsides, public amenities, entertainment options, and more to strengthen our families and protect the value of our homes.

Dirk's work on the planning commission brought Pacific Commons, the Block at Pacific Commons, Whole Foods, the Downtown Plan and the BART to Warm Springs plan--a transit-oriented innovation hub of high-tech and advanced manufacturing, projecting thousands of quality jobs and a new Elementary School while protecting our hillsides and baylands.

Dirk's experience of listening to and working together with community members to save a treasured piece of Fremont's history, improve and expand community amenities, and attract wanted businesses and quality jobs to our city is exactly the fresh perspective we need on Fremont's City Council.

Dirk is a proud graduate of Washington High School. He and his wife Lisa live in the Centerville area of Fremont with their sheltie, Lexi. When they aren't working or giving back to the community they enjoy traveling.
