Questions & Answers

1. How would you prioritize the fiscal choices the Legislature must make to align the state’s income and spending?

1. Simple rule to follow: Do not spend more money than what you currently have.
2. We must get good results in public education to promote a highly educated and employable student population, since we spend in excess of 40% of the California budget in public education.
3. We must create and maintain good jobs in California.
4. We have to promote renewable energy for all of California.

2. Given our current drought condition, concern for water rights and usage is an important issue. What solutions would you support to address our water problems?

1. We must practice effective water conservation based on priority of needs.
2. We need to study the implementation of desalination plants for California.
3. We have to make sure all water consumers(private, public, and commercial) in California must have a water meter, since there are still plenty without one to properly monitor and bill for their water usage.

3. California high school students rank lower than many states in student performance. What do you see as the ongoing role of the Legislature in addressing this problem?

1. We have to promote Parent-Choice, since a parent knows best and has the right to determine what will provide the best education for their child be it private, public traditional, public charter, or home schooling.
2. We have to reward good teachers with Merit Pay.
3. We need to promote students to be more proficient in the English language.
4. We must make sure education funding goes to the student first and not special interest groups.

Priorities:
1.Practice Responsible Government Spending
2.Improve Public Education in California
3.Create and Maintain Good Jobs in California
4.Protect the Quality of Air in California and the East Bay
5.Transform California to be Business Friendly
