Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Christopher "Chris" Mitchum

Candidate for
United States Representative; District 24

This information is provided by the candidate

Our nation's founders began the Preamble to our Constitution with "We, the People," thereby fixing the ultimate repository of their faith and ours. Returning our federal government to the founding principles and values of our constitution is the only way to ensure a government of, by and for the People.

Now, a great tide of political reform sweeps across our nation, not by accident, but by the necessity of reclaiming those enduing principles and values on which this nation was founded. What has happened to these founding principles and values? The principle of individual freedom has been eroded by government regulation, and taxation. The principle of personal industry through merit has been whittled down by government handouts. The principle of national security has been sacrificed on the altar of political correctness for terrorists and illegal aliens lest they be offended by our exercise of strength. The principle of sound economics and fair trade has been replaced by printing more devalued currency and taking loans from the unborn that, with today's policies, will never be paid back. The principle of personal privacy has been erased by digital systems that track every human event and action without consent. Most of all, the principle of natural, human rights emanating from a Creator has been replaced by the secular religion of social relativism.

This sweeping tide of rebellion casts aside family dynasties, failed career politicians, and the bankrupt socialist experiments of pandering euro-intellects. Unless our nation restores the power and the voice of the common citizen, recovering our lost principles and values, the United States of America will be hurled into the "thousand years of Darkness"* about which Ronald Reagan warned us. It is time for career politicians who vote to raise taxes and enlarge government to step down. It is time to cut spending, lower taxes, and reduce regulation. It is time to let the People restore our economy.

I am the candidate for Congress to rid us of the restrictive and destructive policies of the present administration. Nearly everything it has done has been bad for America. I am the candidate for Congress who is dedicated to make sure "that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."**
