? 1. In this time of high unemployment and budget deficits, what are the most important steps that should be taken to improve our nation’s economy and sustain job creation?

Answer from Floyd Harvey:

Nothing will work unless we get on trade policies fixed. Our current trade agreements have cost us millions of jobs and continues to cost this country over half a trillion in lost revenue every year. We must begin with a Fair Trade strategy. This will begin true job creation without the threat of being outsourced. Turning our trade deficit into a trade surplus will more for our country budget than any tax cut.

? 2. What, if any, changes should be made to federal health care policies or programs?

Answer from Floyd Harvey:

It's hard to really put your finger on it. Not too many people have actually read the bill, so we are all reacting to what we hear. ACA is the law of the land. Talk of repeal is not productive. We must remain flexible to insure that our citizens, hospitals, and small business owners are protect from any unintended consequences.

? 3. What are your priorities with respect to our nation’s energy policy?

Answer from Floyd Harvey:

As of right now, we just have an oil, coal, and gas policy. Very dirty yet vital sources of energy. There's nothing wrong with the three, but we really need to be more aggressive with enhancing our green economy. Riverside County is uniquely qualified to lead in green technology due to our weather and location. We already have many solar sites operation throughout the county. Thousands of jobs are just waiting for us. We must properly regulate drilling and fracking to make sure Americans, our water supply, and our lands are protected. We must be transparent in the deals we make in congress. Truth be told, politicians will always shift the risk to the American people while energy companies take all the profits. That has to change.

? 4. What, if any, changes should be made with respect to our nation’s security, including our national defense or anti-terrorism measures?

Answer from Floyd Harvey:

We spend too much money on war, planes, and more creative was to blow people up. We must shift our focus to taking care of our troops which will cost us more than all the wars combined. Our national security will depend more our or financial strength, not our military might. Anti-Terrorism is best fought by our Intelligence Agency, not our military. We need to hit the reset button on how best to go forward.

? 5. What is your position on the issue of immigration reform? What, if any, changes to legislation or policy would you support?

Answer from Floyd Harvey:

We have an immigration system that is being ignored. We already have a pathway to citizenship. We have people from all over the world becoming American citizens by doing it the legal way. It is unfair to attack Americans as being evil for wanting our sovereignty to be respected. Any one who is here illegal never intended to become a citizen, so why are would we give it to them. When we break the law, we pay the price. No one makes exceptions for our families or lifestyle. That would be the responsibility of the person who broke the law to consider. We have to enforce the laws on the books, mandate e-verify for all employers, and address the abuse of the H1B Visa system. We can not offer amnesty to anyone and we can not deport everyone. Our immigration issue is global. We have people from all over the world who come here and stay illegally. There may be some type of middle ground that our country can live with, but so far, I have yet to hear of one.
