? 1. How would you prioritize the fiscal choices the Legislature must make to align the state’s income and spending?

Answer from John Farr:

I believe legislation should be strategic, with the goal of making state government work better and cost less. My priority is that California pay down its debt and use funds wisely to support education, reduce overcrowding on freeways, and provide for public safety.

? 2. Given our current drought condition, concern for water rights and usage is an important issue. What solutions would you support to address our water problems?

Answer from John Farr:

A statewide focus on innovation in agricultural and urban water use and management system is key to helping California through the drought. About three fourths of California's water is used in agriculture. Managing this area better will help all Californians. Working with our local communities to establish creative locally-based actions to save water will help us manage our water for the long term.

? 3. California high school students rank lower than many states in student performance. What do you see as the ongoing role of the Legislature in addressing this problem?

Answer from John Farr:

In our assembly district the Corona-Norco Unified School District has twice been recognized as one of the top four school districts in the nation. The success in this local school district can be and should be replicated throughout Riverside County and the State. Student success and learning should be a priority for the Legislature.

? 4. What other major issues do you think the Legislature must address? What are your own priorities?

Answer from John Farr:

As your representative, my priorities will include: reducing government spending; protecting our water supply; tax incentives for small businesses; supporting students and veterans; and ensuring that our first responders are fully equipped to protect us. I believe legislation should be strategic, with the goal of making government work better and cost less.
