I am running for District 3 Supervisor of San Mateo County: Election Day, June 3, 2014. I believe that corruption exists most everywhere and it is up to the citizens to stop it where possible. Corruption is a spirit killer and destroys families, I am committed to substantially reducing it in our County. The Supervisors are responsible for this issue.

I support comprehensive compliance reviews and audits of all departments in the county including the Supervisors.

1. Corruption
2. Unfunded Pension Liabilities $2B
3. Comprehensive Compliance Reviews and Audits

  • I support local control, not regional, and not international.
  • YES on a balanced budget. I am concerned about our future revenue for San Mateo County. That is why it's critical that the current budget be funded. Not having a balanced budget is adding a substantial debt to the taxpayers. A balanced budget would ensure that all programs being funded by San Mateo County are prioritized by importance and benefit to the county. No funding from reserves. I recommended the County pay down $50,000,000 towards our unfunded pension liabilities. County Manager John Maltbie agreed and proposed that exact amount. It was approved by the Supervisors.
  • YES on pension reform. I support the recommendations of the Little Hoover Commission. Negotiations and concessions should take place immediately.
  • YES on consolidation of fire services on a county-wide basis. The consolidation of San Mateo County's fire services would lead to a safe and efficient system.
  • YES on Save Caltrain. I support finding a permanent funding source. Save all stops.
  • NO One Bay Area Plan.
  • NO International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI).
  • NO High Speed Rail in San Mateo County.
  • NO Cargill's "Salt Flats" project in Redwood City. I support Redwood City investing in all the studies and reports the council feels it needs.
  • I support the Grand Jury.
  • I support taxpayers and private property owners and their rights.
  • I support outsourcing the Planning and Building Department of San Mateo County, making it more cost comparable to cities and more customer friendly.
  • I support a single point database for whistleblowers and citizens.
  • I support eliminating prosecutorial misconduct in San Mateo County.
  • I support law enforcement looking more like peace officers than military combat operatives.
  • I support a Citizens Oversight Committee for the County, composed of ordinary citizens.
