Biographical Highlights
  • Occupation: Deputy Sheriff
  • My name is Juan Lopez and I was born and raised in the Bay Area. I managed employees, accounts, and supplies in running a family restaurant.
  • I was employed with the sheriff's office in April of 1987 After assignment to patrol, I started our community policing unit in 1992.
  • After two years on the street, I started the street crimes unit on rising gang issues. I wrote and prosecuted the first gang case in California.
  • I assigned to our investigations unit in East Palo Alto for about four years; then moved to our main office investigations unit for four years.
  • I have worked in our transportation unit and court system; (current assignment) Prior to that, I worked in our correctional facility for ten years.
  • While working in corrections I earned a BS Vocational Education and an MS Emergency Services Administration at Cal State University, Long Beach.
Top Priorities if Elected
  • Re-establish the sex crimes unit to cover offender monitoring and sex slavery.
  • Insitute dedicated domestic violence unit to educate and deter.
  • Satellite jail is being built in a high risk flood zone. Whole plan demands re-examination.
