Motecuzoma Patrick Sanchez is a native of Stockton who grew up in District 3. A product of both Stockton and Lincoln Unified School Districts, he graduated from Lincoln High and got his Associate Arts degree from San Joaquin Delta College. Serving our country in the Marine Corps, he was deployed to serve in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.

While working full-time in Stockton warehouses to support his family he would eventually graduate from California State University Sacramento magna cum laude (with high honors) maintaining a 3.89 GPA. Being accepted to the prestigious Capitol Fellowship he would work as a Legislative Aide in the State Assembly providing analysis and recommendations as well as staffing legislation that would be signed into law by the Governor.

Currently he is completing his Master's Degree in Public Administration from the top ranked USC School of Public Policy. He is also the founder and director of SEMILLAS, a program designed to increase educational outcomes in Stockton through promoting literacy amongst grade school students and their parents.

He has experience with local government having served on the Children's Services Coordinating Commission and as Chair of the Equal Employment Opportunity Advisory Committee. He maintains his strong roots in the Stockton community where he has and is raising his family, including his oldest child who is a student in the STEM Program mentioned by Pres. Obama in his State of the Union Address. He is passionate serving the community:

"As your next councilmember, I will work diligently to improve our economy by helping our business climate create quality jobs; make neighborhoods safer for families; and ensure that our city government is run efficient and more responsive to community needs and concerns."
