San Joaquin County, CA June 3, 2014 Election
Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Peter J. Ottesen

Candidate for
Member; San Joaquin County Board of Education; Trustee Area 3

This information is provided by the candidate

Too much taxpayer dollars are lost at the state, county and federal levels that should go to local schools to help students become the best they can be. I believe in local control of local schools, led by local boards of education and local citizens, to know what is best for their children. Money, expertise and training should go directly to local schools without exception.

I am running for a seat on the five-member San Joaquin County Board of Education so the County Office of Education can return to its stated role -- "To serve as the intermediate unit between local schools and the state and federal governments." Thus, the County Office of Education should be a facilitator and an expeditor of money, expertise and training, and not a competitor for funds with local school districts.

Let's remove the blockade to student success at local school districts. Let's be the vital "service agency" to support local schools.
