As a proud Chula Vista resident, I will always love our city, and I know there is still a great deal we can accomplish. I believe there are a number of areas where we can strengthen our city and community. As your Councilmember, I will work tirelessly to fulfill Chula Vista's grandest dreams.

---Prosperity---

I want to make Chula Vista the number one destination in San Diego County for new or relocating businesses. There are a number of regulations, fees, and bureaucratic obstacles that currently make it difficult for businesses to startup or expand in Chula Vista.

When it comes to the development of the new university, I believe we must support a project that reflects the needs of our community and leads to high-paying jobs for graduates.

In addition, I believe we must focus our energies on ensuring the various development projects our city has supported can become successful before approving new developments.

As your Councilmember, I will work with the business community to identify policies and resources that can help expand prosperity, businesses, and jobs throughout our city.

---Fiscal Responsibility---

Our city council should be a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars. As your Councilmember, I will fight to eliminate redundant programs, wasteful services, and red tape.

In addition, I will also reject any boondoggle projects that waste taxpayer dollars, and I won't rely on tax increases to balance our city's budget. Our city council must pursue a sound budget that provides adequate services for taxpayers in a responsible manner.

We must utilize responsible financial management to place our city on strong long-term financial footing. As your Councilmember, my sight will always be set on the future.

---Public Safety---

One of our city's highest priorities should be the safety and security of our neighborhoods.

Our police department currently faces a staffing shortage, which, if not addressed, could turn into a public safety crisis. We must ensure our police officers have the resources necessary to keep our community safe.

We must also provide our city's firefighters with adequate resources dedicated to improving response times throughout the entire city.

As a Councilmember, I will work closely with all of our public safety leaders to help keep protect our community.

---City Services---

As your Councilmember, I will support efforts to strengthen our city's infrastructure. Whether it's fixing potholes & sidewalks, removing graffiti, or speeding up response times to citizen needs, our city council must ensure basic city services are a top priority.

I will support improvements for our city's parks and continued funding for critical youth programs. I am a strong proponent of the cultural & arts programs that inspire pride in our city.

---A Long-Term Vision---

The leaders of today will set the destiny of our city for years to come. We shouldn't address our city's future with five or ten year plans--we must make decisions that take into account the lives of generations of Chula Vistans.

We have reached an important juncture for our city's future--we have the opportunity to build a world-class bay front that can serve as a worldwide tourist destination. Projects such as these are an example of the long-term vision we need.

Our city deserves leadership that is willing to always consider the long-term impacts of decisions. With a clear and steady vision for the future, my goal as your City Councilmember will be to truly move Chula Vista forward.
