Education and Qualifications:
For 31 years, District 7 has been my home. After graduating from Franklin McKinley and East Side Union, I received a Bachelors from University of California Davis and a Masters from San Jose State. My first job after college was a counselor with Catholic Charities. For 10 years, I developed programs and services for Latino and Vietnamese youth and their families to address truancy, gangs, teen pregnancy, dating violence and homelessness.

As School Board President, I worked to achieve excellence in our students while balancing the budget. During my 8 years on the School Board, we improved student test scores district-wide, attracted and retained quality staff, and created a safe learning environment for all students. Soon, we break ground on Educare in the Santee Neighborhood, a California first state-of-the-art early learning center.

On the City Council, I will stand up for all our neighborhoods. I will continue to help families and young people by fighting for quality schools, ensuring productive after-school activities, enhancing public safety, and advocating for small businesses and job creation.
