Smart Voter Official Statement for Rose Herrera

Candidate for
Mayor; City of San Jose

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

Occupation: San Jose City Councilwoman
Age: 60
Education and Qualifications:
As your Mayor, I will make neighborhoods safer and create more opportunity so everyone can share in the success of Silicon Valley. My plan will expand San Jose's economy, grow jobs and expand the tax base so we can invest in public safety, job creation and education.

My personal mission will be to recruit companies and push the city to innovate to make it easier to do business and create jobs, protect industrial land needed for jobs, and focus on sectors like advanced manufacturing that create higher-paying middle class jobs.

I have a record of getting real results - even when opposed by special interests. I fought to control pension costs to protect vital services, recruited businesses, brought in 2500 new jobs, saved Lake Cunningham and Municipal Water, fought to build ballfields, and pushed (Truancy Abatement and Burglary Suppression) to get kids back into classrooms.

I was born in San Jose and graduated from Overfelt. I returned after serving in the Air Force, graduated from Santa Clara University, raised my family, and started a business before my election to City Council.

I am asking for your vote so we can make San Jose safer, help schools, and ensure our economy works for everyone. http://www.RoseforSanJose.com
