Smart Voter Official Statement for Paul Fong

Candidate for
Council Member; City of San Jose; Council District 1

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

Occupation: Legislator/Professor/Businessman
Age: 61
Education and Qualifications:
For over 35 years, I've been serving my neighbors in District 1 as an Educator at De Anza and Evergreen Valley Colleges, former Assistant Varsity Football Coach at Lynbrook High School, owner of two small businesses, Trustee on the Foothill/De Anza Community College Board, and as your California Assemblymember. I have the passion and proven experience to represent you during this time of challenges and opportunities in San Jose.

In the Assembly, I've earned a 100% voting scorecard on legislation supporting seniors, women's reproductive freedom, the environment and animal rights. And, I made the tough decisions on pension reform that put our state back in the black while protecting working families.

If elected to the Council, my top priority will be making San Jose's families, seniors and businesses safer. We must rebuild our police force, because today we have the lowest ratio of police officers to citizens of any large city in America. I believe San Jose can balance our budget, restore critical services to seniors and children, and regain our title as the "safest big city in America." I would be honored to have your vote. Thank you.
