Smart Voter Official Statement for Magdalena Carrasco

Candidate for
Council Member; City of San Jose; Council District 5

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

Occupation: State Commissioner/Educator
Education and Qualifications:
Over the past four years, self serving politics, mismanagement, and distrust have hurt the Eastside. As a State Commissioner, educator, and children's advocate, I have a proven record of fighting for Eastside families and delivering results.

Born and raised in San Jose, I was the first in my family to graduate from high school and college. It was great role models and opportunity that helped me succeed. Everyone deserves the same chance. That's why I've devoted my life to creating opportunities for Eastside families.

As a children's advocate, I've worked to help youth reach their full potential - keeping them off the streets and on the right path. As a school boardmember, I've worked with teachers and parents to improve academic standards to prepare kids for college or a career.

I was honored to have my work recognized by Governor Jerry Brown when he appointed me to the California First Five Commission and the State Advisory Council on Early Learning and Care.

I'm running for City Council to put an end to political games and refocus on the things that matter to Eastside families - good schools, good jobs, and delivering results. http://www.votemagdalena.com
