It is my sincere belief that we desperately need campaign reform at every level in American politics. From school board to presidential elections we need public financing or campaigns with very low private funding limits. Local government must realize that it is in everyone's best interest to open the system up to be more accessible to new and more diverse candidates that better reflect the community at large. We have seen our entire political system stolen by the special interests at every corner. Lobbyists and PACS now control our nation for their wealthy corporate masters at every level. They feel entitled to buy politicians to do their bidding. The time has come to make lobbying illegal. We must also severely curtail or eliminate entirely the use of private and corporate funding for political campaigns. We need more citizen politicians who are not professional politicians to do what is right for our communities. We need regular people who can use common sense and best practices to make a change. Only when we start implementing better and smarter public policy choices will all of our lives and those of our children improve. We must embrace education and public safety as the community values we choose to uphold and support above all else. Empowering the middle class and average Americans must always be our goal.
