I am a native California baby boomer born in San Francisco to parents who worked in the WWII shipyards. I was raised in Southern California and attended Cal State Long Beach where I graduated. After college I was recruited to work as a Deputy Probation Officer in law enforcement reporting to the Superior Courts.

I am not a recent arrival to the Second District. I have lived in the Northwest Orange County's Second District for over forty years. During my career with the County of Los Angeles I worked as a Probation Officer, a personnel analyst, and worked up to the position of Hospital Administrator for two general hospitals and multiple clinics. For fourteen years I was a Senior Deputy to Supervisor Ed Edelman. My duties were to develop policy in the areas of health, mental health, community development, and oversee the County's $13 Billion budget, particularly as it impacted the District. I planned for the efficient use of tax dollars.

Along with my degree from Cal State Long Beach I earned a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Cal State University, Northridge.

I have found time to become involved in my community. As a member of the Citizen Participation Advisory Board for the City of Huntington Beach I served two terms as its Chair.

I also volunteered at the Live Oak Adult Literacy Program teaching English and Citizenship.

I have had the privilege and your trust to serve as your elected Trustee on the Coast Community College District Board, and have continued to use my skills in the proper planning and use of your tax dollars. This District, with its annual sixty thousand students, serves Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Westminster, Garden Grove, Fountain Valley, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Surfside and Sunset Beach. The Second Supervisorial District serves these same cities along with a portion of Buena Park, and all of Cypress, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Stanton, Rossmoor, and Santa Ana Heights.

As you can see I have already been serving a large portion of the Second District residents through my current elected position of College Trustee. I know the people in the district I serve and have worked to keep higher education a top priority for the middle class and working families.

As a Board Trustee I oversee budgets that provide higher education at Orange Coast, Goldenwest and Coastline Colleges. During my tenure oon the College Board I have seen the graduation, transfer, or certification of over 55,000 students. Our colleges prepare the workers of the future. The annual District Budget is approximately $230 million. I have been a budget planner for you and not a tax collector.

I will not allow the Seat of Second District Supervisor to be bought.

Remember to exercise your right and make certain to vote on June 3rd. This is projected to be one of the lowest voter turnouts in the history of California. Vote--your future depends on it!
