Examination of Factors That Influence Academic Entrepreneurialism
To understand why SoCalROC is vital we need to understand that the best instructors are: "academic entrepreneurs." This study offers suggestions for how to influence institutional policies that in turn encourage faculty academic entrepreneurialism. Remember that SoCalROC offers vocational-trade programs just like a community college. The qualities of academic entrepreneurialism apply to SoCalROC, K-12, community college, and universities.
The Right to Invest, Profit, And Persevere
Torrance owns the property of SoCalROC, including the building and land. We can enter into a strategic partnership with SoCalROC and keep the doors open. This proposal is a legal justification for establishing a nonprofit educational entity that offers course instruction with separate funding streams from Sacramento. Note: SoCalROC offers vocational-trade programs just like the community college system. Keep this in mind when reading this paper.
Maintaining Collegiality Among Faculty
The threat of SoCalROC is very real. We can save this valuable institution for generations to come if voters support a true visionary for change. This paper does not address SoCalROC by name, but the suggestions for change are applicable to trade-vocational programs. The paper justifies the pursuit of external funding sources to foster a strong academic and vocational trade relationship within a campus.
